The department is housed in Waters Hall and maintains excellent research facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, a scanning electron microscope, and a research insect collection. The department currently has 46 permanent, residential and adjunct/ancillary faculty, four full-time office staff, about 20 postdoctoral and technical support staff, 29 graduate students, and several other temporary personnel and student employees involved in research.
Cooperative research programs exist with the KSU Departments of Animal Science and Industry; Agronomy; Biochemistry; Ecological Genomics Institute, Grain Science and Industry; Horticulture, Forestry and Recreation Resources; Plant Pathology; the Wheat Genetic and Genomic Resources Center; the College of Veterinary Medicine; the Grain Marketing and Production Research Center, and other U.S. and international organizations.

The Department of Entomology at Kansas State University has an internationally recognized Graduate Program leading to the M.S. or Ph.D. degree and a graduate certificate program. In addition, we offer a Minors Program for undergraduates, and participate in SUROP.
